Joining mid-campaign?

You do not need to start a brand-new campaign to use Epicly. Whether you are a DM adopting Epicly partway through a long-running story or a player catching up on lore, there are several ways to bring your table's history into the app.

Start from your next session​

The simplest path: upload your next session and go from there. Epicly handles recaps, the GM guide, and wiki updates from that point forward. You can backfill older material whenever you have time.

Manual wiki entries​

Open your wiki (Codex → Wiki) and create entries by hand for NPCs, locations, quests, factions, and open plot threads. Paste notes from earlier sessions and organize them however you like.

  • Use private entries when you want GM-only details hidden from invited players.
  • Edit and reorganize entries at any pace — there is no rush to capture everything at once.

Backfill with text recaps (unlimited)​

If you have written notes from past sessions, use Text Recap on the upload page instead of Audio:

  1. Open your campaign and choose Upload session.
  2. Choose Text Recap (not Audio) on the upload form.
  3. Paste your notes — from one session or several game nights bundled together. Bullet points, summaries, and rough scribbles all work.
  4. Set the session date so older uploads appear in the right order on your campaign timeline.

Epicly treats a text recap like a normal session: you get an organized recap, player achievements, a GM guide, and wiki updates to populate your wiki. Text recaps are free and unlimited — they do not count toward your monthly audio allowance or Session Pack credits.

Multi-session notes are fine

You can paste context from multiple past sessions into a single text recap upload. Epicly will still extract lore, update the wiki, and generate the same outputs as an audio session.

Process chronologically on paid plans

If you have unlocked automatic wiki on a paid tier, upload backfilled sessions oldest to newest when you can. The wiki builds itself more naturally when lore arrives in the order your table experienced it.

Session Packs for prior recordings​

If you have recordings from earlier games, Session Packs let you process past audio without using your monthly plan sessions.

  • Each pack adds 10 billable audio sessions for a one-time purchase.
  • Pack credits never expire and stack without a cap.
  • Your monthly plan allowance is used first; pack credits apply when the monthly pool is full.

This is ideal when you want full transcripts and speaker identification from old recordings, not just pasted notes.
